The challenge
The Lionel Abel-Smith Trust provides financial support for worthwhile projects in Wendover, but their original website didn’t allow applications for grants to be submitted online. The client brief was to design a more modern, more enticing site to facilitate and encourage applications, whilst providing supporting information to make submissions as easy as possible.
The solution
Top priority was to design an easy-to-use application form with a clear call to action. Receiving requests online allows the Trust to review the details before contacting applicants, greatly improving efficiency. Guidance is provided through project examples and FAQs, and we give the Trust a human face by sharing its history and introducing the Trustees.
The result
For brand consistency, we used the fonts and brush stroke illustration style from the Trust’s social media style. We made the site bright and spacious, with colourful photos and room for text content to breathe. The end result is modern and engaging — on all devices. And to meet the brief, the site does drive applications and streamline the process.

Within six months, all applications for grants were via our user-friendly new website, and the volume of applications received has increased by nearly 30%.
